Reception GLD

GLD is a performance measure for EFS pupils. Children are defined as having reached a good level of development at the end of the EYFS if they have achieved at least the expected level in:

  • Earl learning goals in the prime areas of leaning (personal, social and emotional development, physical development and communication  and  language)
  • Early learning goals in specific areas of mathematics and literacy

63% of our pupils achieved the GLD in June 2016 (Judgements were moderated by the Local Authority)

Year 1 Phonics

In year 1, all pupils take part in the statutory Phonics Screening test. This assesses the phonic understanding of pupils and their ability to decode words. Children who do not reach the appropriate standard are given targeted support in Year 2 and retests at the end of that year.

  • 69% of our pupils achieved the required level in June 2016
  • 81% of pupils nationally achieved the required level in June 2016

Year 2 KS 1 assessments

Year 2 pupils sit the KS 1 SATs (Statutory Assessment Test) in reading and maths. Writing is assessed by our teachers and this year their judgements were moderated by the Local Authority.

The tests are designed to assess progress and attainment of pupils to determine whether they are working at the expected standard for their age (ARE)

  • 62% of our pupils achieved ARE in reading (national 74%)
  • 45% of our pupils achieved ARE in writing (national 65%)
  • 45% of our pupils achieved ARE in mathematics (National 73%)

Year 6 KS2 assessments

Year 6 pupils sit the KS2 SATs(statutory Assessment Test) in reading, spelling, punctuation and grammar (SPAG) and maths. Writing is assessed by our teachers. (Judgements were moderated by the Local Authority)

  • 57% of our pupils achieved ARE in reading (national 66%)
  • 80% of our pupils achieved ARE in writing (national 74%)
  • 67% of our pupils achieved ARE in mathematics (National 70%)
  • 67% of our pupils achieved ARE in SPAG (National 72%)
  • 3% of our pupils achieved the higher standard in reading, writing and maths (national 5%)
  • 101 was the pupils average score in the reading test (national 103)
  • 102 was the pupils average score in the mathletics test (national 103)
